Congratulations Emily and Jeff!

I met Kurt about a month ago while attending a conference in Burlington, Vermont. I was immediately drawn to his work. His ability to capture quiet moments during a wedding celebration are just pure talent. I am delighted that Kurt has joined our Vermont Wedding Style family and look forward to showing you more of his stunning work.
What words best describe your photography style?
Artistic, documentary, photo-journalistic, elegant, timeless…
Is there an iconic bride you would love to photograph?
Michelle Pfeiffer (what can I say, I’ve always had a thing for her).
What has been your proudest moment of your career so far?
It’s a tie between consecutive Vermont Life Magazine covers in 2011, including the inaugural issue of the newly re-designed brand (Red Barn with sunset sky) and a 6 page profile/article that ran in Outdoor Photographer featuring my work, April 2012.
Who do you respect and admire within the photography industry?
Wow, so many people I could name. I think I most admire the people that are staying true to the foundations of good photography and not jumping on board every little trend that comes down the pike. I really admire Jeff Ascough’s work. He’s a british wedding photojournalist and his work and approach to wedding photography has always been an inspiration to me.
Ideal wedding location?
There’s a quiet little place in the Mad River Valley that I absolutely love called the Farm on Mad River. It sits on a bend in the Mad River and the setting and scenery are breathtaking.
Which season do you think is best suited to weddings?
I love late May for the flowers and early autumn for the crisp air and hints of fall color.
Nikon or Canon?
Canon (although that could change).
Black and White or Color?
I love black and white, especially for wedding photography. There is something so classic and timeless about the medium.
Love or hate the new trend of photo/video booths?
I could take it or leave it. I actually haven’t shot too many weddings where there’s been one.
Veil or no veil?
I don’t seem to look good in one.
Favorite cocktail?
Margarita.
What can’t you live without?
Coffee.
Finally what can we expect from you in the future?
Aside from being really excited about my upcoming weddings and the great clients that have chosen to work with me, I’m working on a cool landscape project the subject of which is Lake Champlain. I don’t have too many details firmed up yet but am really excited to create a new body of work that features the stunning beauty of this Vermont gem.

I have been following the work of Orchard Cove Photography for the last few years and had the pleasure of finally meeting Amanda last month. If you have never had the pleasure of spending time with her, Amanda is delightful, energetic and has an infectious smile that lights up a room. I can certainly understand why she is so popular with couples. Not to mention the talent she has for capturing the moments that make a wedding day so special.
What words best describe your photography style?
Fun. Laid back. Emotional. Classic.
Is there an iconic bride you would love to have photographed?
Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.
What has been your proudest moment of your career so far?
It’s too hard to pick one – I feel proud when someone tells me that I captured the essence of the day but they barely noticed that I was there – that tells me that I’ve done a good job?
Who do you respect and admire within the photography industry?
Anyone who stays true to themselves and what is unique about them and doesn’t try to change their style to mimic someone else.
Ideal wedding location?
A private home.
Which season do you think is best suited to weddings?
Summertime – everyone is in vacation mode and ready to party!
Nikon or Canon?
Canon.
Black and white or color?
Color because I love the vividness it lends to memories…black and white has it’s place for quieter, more emotional moments.
Love or loathe the new trend of photo/video booths?
I think they offer a fun perspective on the wedding and can really bring out guest’s personalities.
Veil or no veil?
Veil…especially if it’s a family heirloom.
Favorite cocktail?
Cosmopolitan.
What can’t you live without?
My family. (including my two yellow lab doggies Strider and Sage)
What can we expect from you in the future?
Staying true to my dedication to document families and relationships in a calm unassuming way.

I love it when a floral designer calls and says “I have a few bouquets from this weekend’s events that I would love to share with you.” Michelle from Petals Floral Design has created three gorgeous bouquets for a bride, her bridesmaids or flower girl to carry as they walk down an aisle. I absolutely love the color combinations and delicacy of the bouquets. I can just imagine a flower girl carrying one of these sweet bouquets.
