The Southern Vermont Arts Center’s historic 1917 Georgian revival mansion, Yester House Gallery, is the jewel in the crown of the Arts Center’s campus. Built largely on land purchased from the estate of Charles F. Orvis, the 28- room National Register of Historic Places mansion was built, very literally, as “country cottage,” a place away from the hurly-burly of Manhattan where the ever-so-wealthy Mrs. Gertrude Devine Webster could entertain her friends in the style to which they’d all become accustomed. Liveried drivers would ferry guests from their private rail coaches up the hill to Mrs. Webster’s Yester House.

Today, the mansion regularly hosts intimate rehearsal dinners, lavish gatherings for up to 150 sit-down guests or elegant tented events on the grounds for as many as 300.
